The Collin County Clerk’s Office indexes and scans all minutes, orders, oaths and official bonds from the Commissioners Court. Court records are all documents generated during legal proceedings, such as criminal case files, bankruptcy records, and records from family or probate court.

They contain information about these proceedings, including parties’ names, hearing dates, testimony and evidence, and case rulings. Court records are kept in office for a period of time and then disposed of or archived. Most are considered public records, though some may be sealed or have information redacted when copies are provided to the public. In some cases, court records may be sealed and require a court order to access, but many others can be accessed easily online. The current Collin County Clerk is Stacey Kemp.
Collin County provides a County Clerk Request Form online, which can be submitted electronically. Required information includes the requester’s name and contact information, preferred delivery method (mail, pick-up, or electronic delivery), the name and birthdate of the defendant or plaintiff, and the type of document. The case number and style and the file date may also be included. Noncertified records cost $1 per paper copy or $1 per ten pages of electronic copies. Certified copies cost $5 per record plus $1 per page. These fees may be paid using cash, credit card, check, or money order made payable to Collin County Clerk. Requests typically take 1-2 days to complete, but may take up to five.
